Lived in the armpit of Texas, Houston. It's hot, wet and stinky. Summers are the worst. 95-100+ degrees with 90%+ Humidity. I would leave for work at 4:30am and I would be sweating. There's alot of times it doesn't get below 83 degrees at night not including the heat index which would be sufficating. Glad I left.

Alamo is hot but it doesn't compare to the hot and humid misery of Texas.

But you can't beat the air-conditioning in Houston.

I couldn't even begin to imagine living in Houston or S Texas without air conditioning.

I spent my first few years in Tempe without AC. In July it would get to 117 during the day and a low of 90-93 at night during the monsoons.
The day it reached 122 dgrees it was 100 degrees by 8:00 a.m.

Thanks but no thanks, they actually have my hubby's work in Yuma, we actually considered putting in for there and everyone kept telling us not to go there because of the heat. I could swear someone told us they played baseball late at night because it was to hot in the early evening.
We have had really nice weather this month but it looks as though the heat is coming, I would have like to have a mild summer this year with some normal rainfall.

I live in Fort Worth, which is desert compared to Houston, but it's humid enough. Last night it was 83 degrees at 3 AM, and it's only June. Alamogordo may be hot in the daytime, but from studying the climate, it seems to nearly always cool off significantly at night, usually into the 60s for lows. Here, we're lucky if it gets down below 80 in July and August. I can deal with a hot afternoon, but when one goes outside at 4 AM and immediately breaks into a sweat, that's where I draw the line.

Just curious, whats wrong with Dog Canyon? I am looking for 4-5 acres with a mobile/manufactured and some room to ride my mule, hopefully right into the mountains, Dog Canyon looked like it 'fit my bill'. Can you enlighten me ...

I have been told that there are a lot of drug problems.
Have you been to DC? Not sure how much you would ride the mule into the canyon and Mts. Its pretty steep and its a state park.
I am in Timberon, and the former owner of my place had mules and rode them all over here. 9,000 acres and then there is the natl forest to ride in.
