But providing such information, in a non-revealing way, can make a difference. Saying "I have medical issues that prevent me from working or cause issues in my doing so, hence my lower income" is vastly different from just stating that you have a limited income, can you get by. Too many people try to get by utilizing the government who are well able to make it on their own. And I guess too many of us have seen that first hand, so it's only human nature that they may get defensive when handouts (vs. handups, which is what they appear to be in this case) are given as a way to survive instead of being self supporting.

Boy, I made that clear as MUD, huh?
