Default Japanese Interested in Investing in New Mexico Energy Grid Research

Details yet to be finalized, but this could be a great boon to our state. I applaud the governor for his continued forward-thinking.

I work a lot internationally and quite a bit with the Japanese. They are very, very serious about alternative energy and new technologies. Narita airport is partially powered with solar panels on the roof (it's pretty cool to watch the meter and see how much the solar system supplies at any given time, normally something like 10% to 25%). The Japanese tend to hold a very high standard, though. If you do what you say and don't mess up, they will be extremely loyal and good to you. But if you lie, or promise what you can't deliver, you might as well use the swords, because you will be dead to them. So I do hope something happens, but I also hope we don't overpromise what we can do.

FWIW - commenting about alt energy Stoney Field Farms, the yougert makers, have just installed 250,000 sq ft of solar heat collectors over the company parking lot. They are located, like me, in southern New Hampshire. If collecting solar energy makes sense in New Hampshire it has to be obvious in New Mexico.
