Cool I'm excited about the future of UNM Mens Basketball

I am excited that the new class of junior recruits looks promising. I think as New Mexico grows as a state that pool should grow.

In addition, the remodeled state of the art "PIT" should do wonders to market the program. With the rabid fan base I feel that New Mexico has a legit propability to become a college basketball powerhouse in my lifetime.

Any opinions?

I agree. I have followed Lobo basketball for 40 years, and this may be the most talented team from first player to last that I can remember. Alford's recruiting is great. As far as becoming a basketball powerhouse, that won't happen though. With UNM being in the MWC, and not in the BCS we don't get the money we need to compete on a year to year basis with the big boys. But I can see some good years, good runs in the NCAA tourney in the future. And the renovation of the Pit will be great for recruiting.

Agreed. However, with the strenght of some of the MWC teams including Utah we may be able to strenghten the conference with other quality teams that may be incorporated into the conference throughout the next several years. In addition, any significant run in the NCAA 64 touranment that the mens basketball were to have I am sure that the state would probably go crazy. Only time will tell and I will forever be optomistic no matter what happens.

ie-Santa Fe is lobo country as well!!!

Is this non conferance schedule really going to help there RPI? It's better than some of the past but it's still not all that. They are going to have to play and win against the best teams if they want to become a "Powerhouse"

I will still support the home team but I don't think they will ever be a "powerhouse".

Haha. No it will not. However, wining and consistency will work in their favor if they can do that year after year.

that schedule sucks

and my opinion is they should have just tore down the pit and started from scratch and built a NBA style arena instead of throwing all that money into a remodel that wont even benefit anyone but the suite holders.

and I think BYU and UTAH are helping the MWC get some exposure in both basketball and football.

As I look at this schedule I realize how stupid it is.. and well the Lobo's could deff go undefeated and could be a power house, if they wanted it bad like the 1991 UNLV team. We honestly should be playing big time confrence schools.. there is no need to play schools like Nichols State that we can beat by 50..

I hope more Albuquerqueans and New Mexicans can show more support.
And I wish the lobo's luck, they can do anything and I wont doubt that, no one should..

Any streak will end on December 29th. Texas Tech for the W!

(Seriously though, I want the Lobos to Go-All-The-Way!)
