Woodburning is still allowed in Albuquerque except a few nights out of the year. Given our thin air, still winter air, and so many people with respiratory problems, doing the smart thing and getting a woodstove vs. a fireplace will help cut your emissions and get better results from your woodburning.
I vote Albuquerque for best town for kids and jobs. I'd give Los Alamos second, just because nowhere else seemed as much of a stepford community.

I think if you were referring to my post about the fireplace, I the place we're renting has a gas one.
I was told that Rio Rancho had the best schools but it is part of the ABQ metro area so I guess you meant that.

Not quite. Rio Rancho and Albuquerque have separate school systems. Opinions on school systems are pretty poor substitutes for statistics, but opinions on general child-rearing have to be more subjective.
I was referring more toward general child-rearing. There are some excellent school systems that also make lousy places to raise kids. Rio Rancho isn't a lousy place. Would probably rank it not far behind Albuquerque.
