I disagree. As a Coloradan, I love our "original" Colorado plate--green and white, with the mountains, and Colorado spelled out in simple letters. But then, every organization under the sun wanted special plates. Now we have way over 100 classes of plates--in every color of the rainbow. You practically have to rear-end someone to see that they have Colorado plates--if they have one of the special plates. Dumb.
The "simple" New Mexico plate is a delight--orange on yellow, with the Zia symbol. There is no doubt that it is a New Mexico plate. I think it is a great, simple, yet distinctive design.
It does always amaze me, though, how people get their panties all in a bunch over what is essentially a means of identification and tax receipt.

While I personally think that the AZ and UT plates are nicer than ours, the NM plates are a 1000 times better than the ones I had in NJ - they were beyond boring.
There is a nice selection of NM speciality plates available now. The spay and neuter one is particularly nice, and, I think the Las Cruces one is an excellent representation of our city. Of the ones proposed for Santa Fe, I like the second one the best. Having the dates (1610!!) really makes the point about the longevity of the city.

...and a prominent display of the culture of the state. Many people figure since we have to pay for them for these reasons anyway, they ought to be worth looking at. If you want to see some interesting designs, look at a lot of the plates that old Mexico is issuing nowdays.
Though in the interest of full disclosure, I collect license plates so I tend to prefer fuller, more interesting graphics.

Thats my culture your bashing.
At least ask before bashing that means something to people.
I'd imagine what most people would do since you live in Santa Fe right?
Thats a spanish-Indian pottery design of the late 1600s.
Something I have respect for, If you do research. i'm glad it won.

Jeez. Take it easy. I AM NOT BASHING ANYONE's CULTURE.
Can't we all have our opinions about the license plate?
I happen to love Native American pottery and own some very special pieces of it. I don't have any of it that has a pointy thing at the end.

Plus, I HAVE done quite a bit of research about Native American pottery and I have a pretty good library as well as some pieces of pottery I have accumulated over many years.
I have not heard of spanish-Indian pottery designs. Please enlighten me.

First of all, it sounded as if you were bashing..
Sure anyone can have an opinon, but that sounded rude.
I heard it belonged to one of the Pueblos in Northern New Mexico, or was made in one.
It reflects on Santa Fe's culture, and the Natives that lived there before the spanish came.
To me it shows more than culture, besides the two others werent much appealing, a spanish style building? Most new commers with businesses arent even required to build with a spanish design or a brown color anymore. And the first, was yellow orange? what does that have to do with the founding of Santa Fe?
