1) Current City and State = TN

2) Why do you want to leave = heat and WAY too much humidity! Always loved NM. Time to go to the desert!

3) Where In New Mexico and Why = Santa Fe....the first time we went there I felt like I was really home for the first time. When I stood in the desert I could feel the history. It just feels like a sacred place. Love Native Americans. Beautiful sky, beautiful sunsets....just beautiful scenery!

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States =New Mexico and New Mexico!

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving =we're getting ready....plan on being there by late spring.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? Did I mention that I LOVE NM! So much beauty in one place. What I don't know is why we waited so long..... Creativity blooms in NM and I'm sure we will too!

Default Nurse Relocating NM

i am a nurse, LPN for past 17 years and brand new RN. Ever since I went to school for LPN I have been interested in working on an Indian Reservation from stories told by one of my instructors. Yes I know that I am in for a culture shock and have done some research so that I have an idea of what I am asking for. I have a lot to give and feel that I am very open minded in regards to other peoples beliefs and try not to judge others. I am concerned that I am moving someplace where I dont know anyone and have no family nearby (they are all right here in same city of same state other than some aunts and cousins in florida).

I also know that i am in for huge climate shock and am prepared, at least mentally, for it.
Hallie, Sent you a pm with a possible answer to some of your questions. Yes, your skills and experience will always be welcome and needed because NM as well as other states are always looking for qualified nurses willing to work in an underserved area like IHS or the Self governing tribes(638 programs). And as a plus most if not all of your nursing loans will be forgiven for a commitment of usually no longer than 2 yrs.
Yes, moving away from loved ones can be difficult and at times lonely but the clinic staff here at Alamo and I'm sure at other rez's will bring you into the fold quickly. And once settled, you will have a great place for all of the relatives to visit/vacation because it don't get much better than here in New Mexico.

KEEP IT SHORT, SWEET, AND TO THE POINT!!

1) Current City and State = Omaha, Nebraska.

2) Why do you want to leave = Snow and storms. Crime is a bit spotty for me, too.

3) Where In New Mexico and Why = Rio Rancho, proximity to Albuquerque.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = Arizona (Surprise, Gilbert,) or Colorado (Colorado Springs, Canon City.)

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Financially, we don't have the savings necessary to undertake a move. Ideally, we'd like to be out of here in two or three years. We're also not sold on any place yet. If we're going to pack it all in and move, it'd be to a place we'd be sure we could settle down for a good long while.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = We're planning on taking a trip this November. (Might have to be delayed because of work conflicts.) Mainly to see some of the cities we've been considering.

Maliades is on a distinguished road
1) Current City and State = Austin, TX

2) Why do you want to leave = I feel like New Mexico is my home (lived in Edgewood when I was little, have visited various places in NM many times since then and have family around Albuquerque, and NM is just beeeeeeautiful!!! but most importantly I just feel ALIVE when I'm in NM....)

3) Where In New Mexico and Why = haven't yet decided, need to do more research! Would love to have acreage, but also need to be close to a city so I can work.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = I don't really have any, at least not right now....

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = guts, money (need to pay some debt down so I can live on less), not sure of the job situation in NM

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = In 2011 I plan to attend Southwestern College in Santa Fe to get my Art Therapy/Counseling degree... Not sure if I'll stay in Santa Fe after that but would love to eventually have my own office/studio building. Santa Fe is very expensive, though....
