unless you have nothing better to do, move to T or C. It is a crummy little town, nothing to do, no jobs, stupid people. I am totally looking forward to moving to another location. The locals here are a real trip....... which I have no time for. This is a perfect place for people who want to deal w/people with a very low IQ.

Whoops....forgot.....if you aren't retired, get a pension, or on SSI, and over 62, you are screwed.

It's not quite that bad adrock112. Yes there are limitations. It's essentially a seasonal town centered around water activities during the warmer months. Little to enthus you "younguns" I suppose. Perhaps you could try fishing or water boarding when it warm up a bit more. Besides, the summer months will bring lots of bikini's!

I am looking forward to retirement, pension, SSI and part time work. TorC is looking more and more interesting. I can only hope the real estate prices continue to drop so I can afford an adobe cassita as a winter home.
See every cloud has a rock in it.

Yikes...all this bile and spleen! Y'all should try Deadver for awhile if you want to explore depression on a crushing scale. Compared to this hive of iniquity TorC is heaven to my wife and I!!!! After all these repellent yuppies and gansta thugs (both piloting Hummers interestingly enough)...the quiet and slower pace may yet help to restore our peace of mind. Denver truly sucks folks!

cdimice....Sorry you've been getting alot of Flamed answers as i've contacted one of my favorate moderators on here to clean this up as it's against TOS and posters can be banned. I may apply myself for Moderator as i've been asked in the past so hmm......
As for what you asking about T or C that is going to be hard to answer as it is only around 5,000 people so there just isn't going to be many opportunities in a town that size. Your best bet is too take a visit yourself and see what you you think good or bad.
You said you worked for the schools ...well are you going to apply at the T or C schools or maybe some of the resturaunts?? Again i'd definately go a visit for yourself as only can decide on this as again the town is very small.

My question is, I have been in Public School Food Service for 18 years, what are the job prospects for me if we make this move?? I also have to state that I would not be opposed to working in the 'real' world as I have always worked where I did not draw SS... however my 'real' world skills are limited due to all the years of being in a Kitchen...
Also... what is the housing market like?? My husband and I are Amateur Radio Operators and we need a bit of room in the house for radio equipment and out side for Antenna's....
Thanks to any one who has anything to offer.....

I'm really not an expert on these issues, but I will say TrC has no job market, to speak of. But, it doesn't sound like you're talking anything professional, or 'specific', so you could probably find something, but it will be 'low-paying', I can almost guarantee. Of course, it might be your opportunity to get to know others in the community, so that might be worth alot. Good help seems hard to find, so I would guess you wouldn't have much of a wait in the
Public School food system... we also have the Veteran's Hospital, which just got a major grant for an Alzheimer's unit --another food service opportunity.
Everywhere you look, there is property for sale. Lots of variety, in terms of land, houses, mobile homes, cottages, etc. It's a junkie little town, and I went for a walk around the downtown (hot springs district), and every time I do, I'm amazed: junkie trailer, nice Santa Fe style home, trailer park with trash, funky bright cottage, nice remodeled old building, etc...
I have such mixed opinions about this town... in some ways, just plain junkie, in some ways, so much aesthetic appeal and potential. Read the paper, and you find all the oldtimers ranting about change, go downtown and you see all the art galleries, and hippie havens... I think as the old guard dies off, this town will be re-inventing itself.. It's just hard for me to see if this is really happening.
One thing that really pops out to me, though, is that there is really no central meeting place. On my walks, I can go into the stores or galleries, or I can find a couple of restaurants to eat, and there is Black Cat Books which is popular, and Coffee TrC, but hours are limited, ...Coffee TrC closes at 1pm, so when I feel like getting out to mingle, there's really no place to go!
So, I suppose if you have your mate, you wouldn't notice this aspect as much as singles do.
