We lived in Kenosha, wisconsin, and let me tell you about grocery competition. We had jewel, supervalu, sav a lot, piggly wiggly, aldi, and one other on 52nd. street I cannot remember the name of now. This is competition.

When the kenosha news Kenosha News | Home
provided store sale ads, my annie would shop all stores picking up the best prices on items we used, while I pounded the road sometimes 20 hours a day. She is the shopper. I came home off the road once, and noticed she had been shopping. She grabbed a box of cereal and said, do you know how much I paid for this? She exclaimed 25 cents! I said what? Yes, double coupon sale item.
That's sooo me! In fact... (oh wait- that's a Walmart story LOL)

I gave the walmart meat department manager hell yesterday. While browsing the meat department, I saw 3 cooks hams on the shelf, $1.58 a pound. I summond the manager, and asked, where are all the hams, do YOU know what this SUNDAY IS? Manager replied, we have more in the back which have not been put out yet. I said, I don't want the $1.58 a pound ones, I want the $0.99 a pound ones. Manager replied, we don't have any for that price. I said, well, I guess I'll have to go to bullocks. WALMART SUCKS, at least this one does.
Yeah, I went there 2 times, and agree with you and everyone else, not a good Walmart. Wait--it's a TrC Walmart, that explains it .
I'll tell you what's noticable about the Walmart out here: THE OBVIOUS LACK OF PRICE LISTINGS! (not so much in food) I actually heard the state had a court case about 'pricing problems' at stores, including Walmart, so what, now they just don't list them?? Seriously, they have shelf stickers--all completely blank! WTF?? To me, that's a pretty blatent method of conning, and I think one of the things the state charged them with!
What we lack in T or C is VARIETY, CHOICE and COMPETITION.

Yes, we just went to cruces. We shopped sams club. We saved sooooo much money, it was incredible.

And meat/steaks? we liked the thinly cut sirloins from IGA. My Dr. warned me to avoid great intakes of beef and pork, among other things. My idea of a treat is about 4 ounces of beefsteak, that's my limit. I cannot see paying $7.98 a pound or more for a beefsteak. You cannot buy 1/4 pounder though. But, we did find sirloin for $2.46 a pound at sams, and we cut them/divided them into smaller portions.
I usually wait till 'ribeyes' are on sale around $5.99lb, to stock up. Like you, I eat much more chicken than beef--oh, and I only like dark meat (legs and thighs) which is always cheaper anyway. It's the one thing where I like the cheaper parts!

It's a new ballgame for bullocks. I'd like to see them stay in business, but, they just do not carry some of the items we need. Think of how many other townspeople they aren't pleasing or accomodating, other than us.
Yes, but consider 'the others' you refer to in TrC... dudu dudu Twilight Zoners, man.

Yes. I have lived in a smaller city, with my parents at one time. My father used to say that the town in which my mother and father lived was the last place where the lord shoveled that very last shovel of crap. I will not say T or C is close to that analogy, but, there are areas the city needs improvement on.
Well I say TrC is 2 steps up from hell, in terms of ppl. Needles, CA, is 1 step away!

Glad to hear you're in your new home. Hopefully, you're satisfied with your new surroundings.

I have to say, if it were not for ann to be able to buy this jeep, and us having our travel trailer paid for, and the blue skies, sunshine, mountains, lakes, forests and some of the people we've come to know here, I wouldn't be able to cope either. Where else can I get up in the morning, grap a cup of coffee and a smoke, sit outside in a t shirt nearly everyday, and scoff at doctors who had said my days were numbered!
I'm now realizing how much fun it will be to take off in my RV (stored in Arrey) this summer. I've now got quite a few people I plan to visit. I will probably leave here at the end of May, and most likely stay at EB lake for a couple of weeks. This time, we MUST do a bbq out at the lake. I'm feeling so much better now about everything since I settled in here, and have a place to call home.

Speaking of grabbing a smoke...??? What is it now, $900 a carton?? Even my Indian Reservations are a fortune now, with the tax hike ON TOP OF the manufacturers price hike 'to counteract THEIR loss of revenue'!! Hey man, even drug addicts are treated better than smokers! And the alcoholics are always given a pass to enjoy, unless they're on the road of course.
Yeah, bad economy? tax the smokers! City roads falling apart? Need to create more jobs? Gas prices too high? Food prices soaring? Tax the smokers! Oh, sure, they're concerned about our health... they'll really be concerned if every quits, and there's no money left to tax!!
I say tax the idiots--they'll ALWAYS be around!

Oh, believe me, I stay far away from the zonerz. The guy that walks the town with a "dolly", my ex-friend billie who, has not paid or filed taxes in 15 years!!!!??? and who believes 9/11 was a hoax, the guy with one leg who begs for cash on street corners who can't turn down a drink! I've found you have to avoid these types.

We had a couple stay here at Home Page who were from cali and we went jeepin' many, many times, and they're allright! Even their mutz and our mut got along great! So, we were all mutzin' around together, and had some great times. They had to rotate out to see grandkids and stuff, but, I think they might come back for the winter. I'm waitin' for dracul to make his appearance w/ wife, so we can get together. Cool people are around, you just have to look for them.

I have not been to elephant butte except to take pics. I've an axe to grind with the parks department. I've not been to a state park in New Mexico, and rather than to bash them, I will remain silent. Ever since the camper was shot in the back by a New Mexico Park Ranger, the parks have been off limits for us. That's all I have to say. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-11538723.html

We have had many discovery times in the new jeep, we haven't been everywhere around the area, but we have our favorites. One favorite cookout spot is in the Gila National Forest, "railroad canyon", it's got a firepit, tables, and a toily. Oh, big trees, and a babbling creek too.
