I found this forum trying to find out some information about the real estate situation in T or C. My Mom lived there for years. She recently passed away and I need to sell her home. I live in Utah, and your banter has been very informative. I was told that the Super Wal Mart is bringing in employees from other areas and they are presently buying homes. Is that true? Or are the sales from the speculations of the rocket place being built? Or both? Is the Rocket Plant a certainty? And when is the Wal Mart scheduled to open? Are they hiring now? Lots of questions, sorry, but I want to ask a fair price for her home. Fair for me and for the buyer.

So you moved without doing your homework, eh? Tsk....tsk.....tsk......LOL!!
Don't let the gate hit your a** on the way out, OK?

oooooooow.... Last night I started to write an 'extremely gentle' reply to nnewbauer84, after being scolded with an infraction by the moderator in another forum for being a little 'blunt'. But I was too tired to finish it, and now, miss Cathy, I see I don't have to!!

Wisteria probably filled you in, but the WalMart opens 'soon', they keep pushing the date back.. Last I heard: Summer. I don't know about them buying homes, but I know when Walmart opened in Socorro, they had to transport workers from Belen (30 miles?) until it got on it's feet, and had enough to be self-sustaining. That's a likely scenario here, I think.
Spaceport? My opinion? Yes, but not without alot of pointless arguments, and arbitrary whining that will be ongoing without any real satisfaction to the townspeople here.
Nascar will arrive about the same time as 'World Peace' Don't hold your breath..
Prop values pushed up in the last 2 years, but nothing's selling right now due to housing market everywhere. I'm wondering if that means you can bargain, or if sellers are content to wait it out.

OP - I suggest dropping the price until it sells and counting your blessings. Or rent the place to some aspiring chemist.

Ernest!
Just came across the bit (read: rant) about the fascinating Ernest character!!! What a riot! We too declined to stay at the No-Comfort Inn in lieu of accomodations at the Super 8. Had my new little Bully Pit Bull (not so little anymore with his bulging muscles and sharklike face) with me at the time and he made quite an impression...overwhelmingly favorable I will add. Seriously bad vibes from the Inn though . Missed the psycho show however...doubt Ernest would have entertained me in like fashion anyway... Seems there may be a segment of the TorC populace with more than a little in common with "The Hills Have Eyes" folk!!! Can hardly wait!!!! We'll be back in town within two weeks and I'll be sure to place Ernest on my guest list!!!
