Default Looking for the right woman or female couple to adopt my dog....

Maybe this post belongs in classified? Not sure. I'm looking for the right woman or female couple interesting in adopting a pitbull mix. I adopted him from the shelter and knew nothing about his history. He does not trust men and has bitten my husband 3 times. This dog should not be trusted with children, other dogs, rabbits, chickens, or young cats. He seems to love women and has never even growled at me. He's sweet, affectionate, loves to lounge on the couch and watch movies. He also loves to run hard out in the country but chase will game unless trained not to. He's quiet (has only barked 3 times in 2 months), neutered, vaccinated, and started basic obedience training. Anyone interested would need to be carefully screened, of course. This dog is super sweet but just has issues with men.

Did you call the shelter and tell them the problems you're having?
If not, I would call and tell them what you told us so that they can take the dog back and put him with a female or female couple.
If the shelter is one that kills and trashes dogs, I wouldn't take him back but I would find a no kill shelter in your area.
I'm not sure where you are but Ruidoso and ELPaso have no kill shelters.

Thanks for your suggestion. No point in calling this shelter because they do ZERO screening of prospective adopters. They just to seem to want your money and get rid of the dogs and cats as fast as they can. I've been phoning rescue groups and no luck so far. Have a thread on this in the dogs forum.

I've been trying to think of a female(s) that would want a dog but so far I haven't been successful at it. I'll keep thinking.

Maybe try calling the Humane Society of Lincoln County in Ruidoso. The number is 575 257-9841.

Also Animal Rescue League of El Paso at 877-5002. I'm not sure of the area code but it's in Canutillo, Texas (near ElPaso).

We got our dogs from these shelters, both no kill shelters and maybe they can take your dog and find him a new home or they can give you some idea what to do.

Also, if I remember correctly you are in the 4 corners area (?), Watermelon Ranch in Rio Rancho might be able to help.

I don't know if they rehome dogs, but here is another organization I had seen at adoptathons

http://www.hartnm.com/

Good luck.

Its moving season which might be why there is no room. Not that that helps you at all, but maybe you could find something temporary til space opens at one of the rescues?
