Hi Bruce
We are looking in the area & it appears that there is one section near downtown with houses that are very affordable, but I also wonder because so many are fixers, if this neighborhood may not be desirable for us. The area I am speaking of is on the east side of the big ditch downtown, and is known as Fraser.

If you prefer not to post, my email is artsymorgan@yahoo.com

Thanks so much!

In the Fraser addition there are still some good buys and they will continue to rise in price as the demand for homes in and around Silver continue to rise. Some sellers are looking at lowering asking prices. Compared to the rest of the nation, our real estate prices are relatively low. I know of a few properties in 140k and under range. Many manufactured homes are going for much higher.

Default Silver City Dreamin'

I read the Silver City Sun news every day from my computer here in Vero Beach. It just seems perfect to me. I have seen many homes in our price range right now & we are trying to come up with creative ways to sell our home so we can get there before the first snowfall. :-)

I think Silver would be a fine place to get involved in community activities. We are art & music people. I would love to work on the committee that organizes the blues festival, I have done much of that here too - and, like others, open a little gallery. For such a small town I am impressed with the support for the arts & the Main Street program for downtown.

Thank you for the information - you are in a wonderful place!

Default Trying to get to Silver City

WE love going to Silver city and are trying to move there... but we currently live in Tucson and have a house here that we need to sell.... the market is bad and so.. if anyone out there is interested we have a beautiful house here 2700 sq. ft mediterranean stylehm... near everything... Uof A and two city college campuses.. also near Gem show 5min.... we want to retire and are even willing to finance... if someone comes in with a serious offer... you can e-mail for more info about the house outlandishgypsy@hotmail.com....Maybe someone wants to trade homes.... We are open to any offer... don't want to give you the wrong impression... we are not desperate... just opening doors and hoping someone or something will walk through... My husband and I are both artists and would love to change our lifestyles so thast we can create full time... Tucson has it's advantages but it has become a very big city and is still growing... it would be good for a young person starting a practice or career of somekind... this house also comes with blueprints for an addition for a home office...or apt.. which ever.. The neighborhood lends itself for either. Hope to hear from the universe....

I met my next door neighbors about 3 weeks ago...they've been here for two years...and moved from Tucson because it is getting so big!!

I had considered it, but ruled it out because it does get so hot.

Can anyone tell me what Fort Bayard Medical Center is really like? Has anyone heard what it is like to work there? My folks live in Las Cruces (which I don't particularily care for) and would like it if I moved there since they are getting up there in age. I like the idea of Silver City but there aren't too many jobs but there are some at Fort Bayard. I'm getting the impression that the treatment of the residents there is really bad. If it is like that does anyone know why the situation never changes? The place seems to have had many violations in the past. I'd really appreciate it someone would take the time to explain about the place.
