Hi everybody,
We are here checking out Ruidoso and love it. Also found some houses in Timberon in the paper here and will be checking those out tomorrow. Anything good or bad you can tell me about Timberon will be appreciated. I do know it's pretty isolated but housing seems to be pretty reasonable in the area. Thanks, Cheryl ![]() |

Cheryl.....It is isolated but alot of people that live their like that part of it. Several yrs back they paved the road from Sunspot to Timberon so the drive in and out of it is better. I'd probably go via Cloudcroft to Sunspot to Timberon (west side) instead of Mayhill to Pinon to Timberon (east side) as you'll need a pickup or jeep to drive that terrain unless they have smoothed it out.....

Thanks for your information. We drove to Timberon today and looked at a few places. It is definately isolated. It reminds me of the tv show "The Waltons" It is a beautiful drive and it would be nice to be isolated. At least I feel that way sometimes. There is no grocery store so the drive to Alamogardo or Ruidoso would be something to look forward to. The real estate lady told us that people make a day of it. The scenery and the wildlife and the birds churping would be well worth making a change. It would be a big change but I think we may do it. We love Ruidoso but it seems to be a little too busy. We have been here 4 days. Nice place to visit but not live i guess. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, where do you live and do you enjoy it? Cheryl |

I was raised in las Cruces as i went to Elementary and Junior High there and High School in El Paso as my family and relatives all lived amongst the two cities when growing up. After High School and a 4 year stint in the military i moved to Alamogordo as some of my family relocated there. I worked for Holsum Bread Co. as a routeman and served Cloudcroft, Mayhill, Weed and the south rainge and all the camps off in the backwoods and then later i servied Ruidoso, Capitan, Carrizozo, Tularosa, Lincoln so i know that mountain range very well. Outside the U.S. Virgin Islands (st. croix and st.thomas) my favorate place is Alamogordo and Cloudcroft and the other places in the Sacramento Mts. One of my passions there is 4 wheeling in the canyons like La Luz, Fresnal and Laborcita as its a blast to 4 wheel and dirt bike it all along the trails from the desert bottom all the way up 9,000 ft to the high areas of the mountain rim..... Saving to buy a franchise in Alamogordo so i can move back there soon and may even run for city hall...... Take Care cheryl.....harry! |

We found a very nice doublewide in Timberon for a good price and am trying to get a loan on it now. One place will not give us a loan because it is a doublewide and the only way they will do it is when we sell our home here and have jobs in NM.
Crazy, but Countrywide does not do vacation homes on doublewides. It's the weekend and not anybody else we can talk to now but we will try next week. If it's meant to be, it will happen. We were also up near Albuquerque in Belen to visit my boyfriends mom. I don't blame you for wanting to move back in the mountain area. Peace, Cheryl |

Cheryl,
I love Timberon, we have a 2nd home up there, and really enjoy it. I hope you have good luck on getting your loan. The ATVing up there is great, check with Jeremy for great rides. Everyone up there knows him. I think you will find that Timberon in the summer or winter is wonderful. Good luck, Jane |

Thanks Jane. Hopefully this week we will get our loan from a place we have been dealing with. Hard to get a loan on a vacation home if it's a doublewide, I guess. It's going to be the primary home soon I hope so we'll see what happens.
Looking forward to moving to Timberon. Cheryl |
