Default Motel in Raton

Am seriously considering purchasing the "Raton Pass Inn" in Raton, NM. Currently reside in Minnesota. Any info appreciated. Is the Racino a sure thing to happen? Any other info on Raton? Thanks in advance.

Am not sure, that area of the state could certainly use the jobs. I have a friend who lives in Tucumcari and they are kind of politicking for a racetrack/casino too.

I lived in both of these towns in the early 80's working on a pipeline project, and really liked both towns. Sadly, there is not a lot of jobs in Raton. Weather wise, it can snow pretty good in the winter (being from Minnesota I'm sure THAT is not a big deal to you), but the summers are great! Hopefully, one of the locals can weigh in here. I was through there and spent the night in Raton just last week. Good luck!

The racino is being built south of town, just east of the old
track, from what I understand. They were granted the racing
and gambling licenses. The owners of the racino assured the
state that they will open in May for live racing.

PS Tell Jan that Molly in Missouri said hi! I am friends with
her cousin. Lived in Raton for 14 years until 2004, before
that I lived in Trinidad. Any questions just ask! Here is a link
to their newspaper, fyi:

I live close to the Raton Pass Inn, my family stays there when they visit. It is very nice. The race track is not looking too good right now. Lots of things were supposed to have happened but has not yet.
