Default White Sands-Alamogordo Balloon Festival

is the 19 & 20 of September. Along with the basin wine festival.

It will be a very busy week-end. Hope some of you can come and enjoy or just look up from your back yard.

Should work out well for all of the motorcycle buffs who are invading nearby Ruidoso this weekend - Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally - annual attendance in the 35-40,000 range. Been raining a fairly steady drizzle since Wed and putting a damper on the activities (and muffling some of the noise!). Weekend looks to be an improvement.

Oh yeah, tons and tons of motorcycles. I'm sure some of them will ride toward this way too.
The rain may put a damper on some activities but biker people are tough.

Yes indeed, we are. Although I don't enjoy riding in rain, and only do so if it's unavoidable. One year, I went to the Ruidoso rally (I've been six times) and had to ride all the way home (580 miles) in a cold rain which became thunderstorms as I got closer to home. That wasn't much fun.

I don't care to be riding in the constant rain. A little is okay.

Default Balloon photos (Sunday)

We went to the balloon launch this morning. I will upload a few photos taken by my wife. (We did not attempt to count the balloons.) The weather was perfect for sitting on the dunes and enjoying the view.

How did it go? I drove to Las Cruces Sat afternoon to attend the UMSU/UTEP game with my grandson and ran into some bad storms. Had over an inch of rain here in Capitan. Hope everyone was safe.

Default It went well.

Yes, Saturday night in Las Cruces we had the heaviest downpour of the season at our house. Apparently it had also rained at the dunes since there were some sections of the launch area that had standing water, but they still had enough dry space for the event. As I mentioned earlier, the weather was perfect for viewing.
