re.what to do
well it looks like i got a happy ending for now.looks like the county is going to turn a blind eye for now,and i guess if they dont get anymore complaints or whatever im good for now, atleast it will buy me some much needed time to explore other options and try to put a little money aside just in case.thanks for all your helpfull suggestions, thunderson

Best of luck!!..Glad you got a reprieve...irritates the hell out of me that the Government has nothing better to do than harass a person down on their luck, and people such as yourself that has an agreement that hurts no one...
Good luck

WHAT???? There is a county in NM that enforces restrictions on living in trailers??? Since when???
I live inside the village limits - not in the county - and there are numerous house trailers and even travel trailers that have existed for years that people live in, both full time and part time. There are restrictions on parking an RV in someone's yard and using it long term (even short term, if the code enforcement decides to press the issue). But trailers set up for permanent living seem to have different code restrictions.
I would seek out the lawyer organization - can't think what they're called - that handles cases such as this for either a nominal fee or for free.

Who the ACLU? They like to work on high profile cases, but it might be worth a try if it ever gets that far. Sometimes they turn small cases into high profile ones.

They have code enforcement in Ruidoso?. Really! Every time I complain about the three barking dogs late at night down the street they tell me they don't have anyone to enforce the code and the police have better things to do.
There are hundreds if not a thousand trailers in Ruidoso, but most are there permanently with the wheels removed.
I am very glad they will let Mikeydoo21 stay for now.

Good information! Thanks for taking the time to research it. Much better choice than the ACLU.

I wonder if you take off the wheels & build a little permanent, attached entrance/mud room if that would make it a permanent dwelling?

Nope, Bongo.
About all you can legally do in NM in a travel trailer is leave it in one spot for 6 months or less. If the owner can manage to move it every six months, it's possible to sneak by.
