One night in Gallop
Friends -
I will be passing through and plan on staying in Gallop on the night of Nov 1. I am not sure exactly what time I will arrive, hopefully around 9 PM. Do you recommend an advanced reservation and if so do you have a motel you would recommend.

Yes, you should make reservations. November 1st the weather will be unpredictable and if snow or freezing rain the hotels will fill early and quickly. Look on the net there are many. Have a good stay. Gallup is an interesting town.

My wife travels extensively throughout the state, including Gallup. She very much recommends staying at the La Quinta in Gallup. Most of the other places there are pretty old/run down. The LQ only opened 1-2 years ago.

There are tons of rooms in Gallup, so as long as there isn't any snow there isnt any reason to book something in advance. Rooms are CHEAP in Gallup, but some can be run down. Take a look before you take the rooom. Watch out for location though...you don't want to be too near the railroad tracks between Coal and the freeway. The places on the West side tend to be newer.

Depending on how much you want to pay, I would recommend the Hampton Inn, in fact there are 2 of them I beleive. We stay at the one on the west side of town, just off I-40.

ps: I can't imagine needing reservations, but it never hurts to have them. We always do.
Nita
ps: just saw someone recommend the La Quinta, we have stayed there as well, we still prefer the Hampton Inn, but La Quinta is a little less expensive.
