Rio Rancho city officals are saying that a theme park may be built in the new Rio Rancho city center. It sounds like that would be cool but they have said same things about the ABQ westside and roswell. What do you think?

That would be so nice to have a theme park in Rio Rancho especially if they can some how get a roller coaster to make you feel like you are going to hit the mountains or have a roller coaster sort of out line the mountains. Would be cool to design it around the natural beauty of the area. I would definitely go. It would be another nice place to meet more friendly people. Any word on a movie theatre? That would be nice too.

Not sure about Rio Rancho or the west side, but there is a theme park being planned for Roswell. NM legislature recently approved $250,000 to pay for a design plan, cost analysis etc etc.. Major themepark developers are taking interest in this long awaited theme park which is called ALIEN APEX RESORT. It will have major rides(alien abduction rollercoaster) and plenty of things to do for all ages. Although the ABQ area is long overdue for a theme park ,,it looks like Roswell has a great possibility to be the first NM city with a major themepark and now that jet service is coming to Roswell September 5 via American Eagle airlines giving southeastern NM a faster more convenient connection to the rest of the world, gives the theme park a GREAT chance of being built. A possible water park is also being talked about for Roswell. NM is one of the hottest states without a waterpark now that the beach in ABQ shut down.
Here are some articles about the project

UFO theme park and Rio Rancho theme parks would be a nice addition to our NM family of casinos, race tracks (auto and pony), ski areas, historical tourism sites. I heard that the Alb water park was closed. Is there anyone or group proposing to build a large water park for New Mexico? Any news updates regarding a theme park for Rio Rancho or Northern NM would be welcomed here.

Still waiting on that indoor water park at I-40 & Carlisle. At least they're making good progress on it. Best yet, I'm not limited to May-August hours.
