There is not only a Curves here in Alamo....you have 3 other choices that come to mind.
1. Premier Health and Fitness: brand new state of the art facility that is loaded. I didn't join this because they don't have an indoor pool, but boy, is it nice!! It is on the north end of town.
2. Physical Therapy Health and Wellness Center: this is a small facility, but well equipped with aerobic equipment, weights and exercise machines of all kinds. They have a small indoor 25-yard 4-lane lap pool and a hot therapy pool. The fact that I can go swimming anytime between 6am and 6pm makes up for the small number of lanes. This was my choice because of the hours, and the fact that it is mostly an adult facility.
3. Family Recreation Center: This facility has a huge 50-meter pool that is uncovered during the summer and covered during the cooler months. There are activities and workout equipment of all kinds.
So....depending on what you're looking for, you DO have some great choices here.

Funny you should mention Curves...
She is actually a Curves manager at this time but has a desire to do something besides that. We are going to try and secure housing in Cloudcroft and I am unsure how motivated she would be driving down the mountain to workout.
That is good to know that there are choices though.
Thanks,
Troy

You don't need a gym in CC. There's 1.1 million acres of national forest all around. I hike out there almost every day. It's safe, and there are plenty of trails for walking, running, and biking. Even just walking/jogging/running around town is a great workout at 8,600-8,900 feet. There's also a group of mostly older women who walk together regularly. One of my neighbors is in the group. I've never joined them, though they have invited me. They are serious fitness hounds, or so I hear. One subdivision outside of town has its own indoor facility, but I'm pretty sure you have to live there to use it. But living here year-round, I think the last thing I'd ever want to do is work out indoors. Just my preference, of course.

In Alamo there is also the Senior Center that is if you qualify.. or one of you need to be 60 or above. There are lots of things going on out there.
If you are into walking, you can get a lof of walking in around here.
