LOL Like TKO said, every road out of town. They are not a problem. It's not like crossing the border. They just ask where you are from and wave you on. Oh, and you may be sniffed by a dog. LOL

If your smuggling dope or illegal aliens you'll find out as we read almost daily in the local paper about the arrests at the inspection stations as they've become very high tech as they can scan semi's and vehicles with hidden compartments and also use the drug sniffing dogs and different sensors etc.

The only problem created by these stops is the traffic backup. I went through
one a week ago Wednesday with no hassles and sailed through the same spot
yesterday with no stops being performed.

Yes, but it's funny when I go thru. I usually always have my dog, or am hauling 100 pounds of bologna.

If you're really worried about it, don't do anything illegal.
BTW, the CBP also has vehicles, roving patrols, and a person can be stopped. You won't see them either. They're hiding behind tumbleweeds and billboards. Everywhere.

When it comes to Las Cruces, you can't evade the secondary border patrol checkpoints, headed out of town. If your destination is Santa Fe, then you have two choices: 1) up the Rio Grande Valley, or 2) up US 54. The first has two routes, I-25, and the parallel route, NM-185. Both of these have checkpoints, just beyond Radium Springs. If you take US-70 to Alamogordo, to US-54, you will encounter a border patrol checkpoint just prior to White Sands National Monument.
Additionally, if you are headed west out of LC towards Deming, another border checkpoint exists past exit 123.

Dunno if anyone actually answered your question. There is one BP checkpoint between L.C. and S.F. They (BP / CBP) have two staging areas they use - both on northbound I-25. One is about 20 mi. north of Las Cruces. The other is 5 mi. or so north of T or C. Which one they use on any given day? I have no idea, but the checkpoint north of L.C. seems to be used more than the one north of T.C.
