I'll make this short and sweet. I turn 18 on November 20, 2010. Election Day is on November 2 this year from what I understand. My question: is there any way I can vote in this election, or am I out of luck? I am in Lea County if that's at all relevant. I can also claim residency in Midland, Texas, if needed (my mom lives there). Thanks, C-Ders!

Do you mean "legally" vote?

You have to be at least eighteen years of age on or before election day.

Oh, absolutely legally. So it looks like I'm SOL. Thanks anyway!

You should be commended though for your civic-mindedness. Not many young people (or older folks for that matter) who can vote show up for a mid-term election.

nope, you will have to wait until 2012. The same thing happened to our granddaughter, she missed voting by about 3 weeks and her sister ended up being able to vote the same year even though they were 3 and 1/2 years apart in age. I am always encouraged when I read about a young person who can't wait to vote.
