My husband and I are getting stationed in LA. Him in NOLA me in Grand isle. Therefore we have to find a place in the middle and commute. Sucks I know! is Houma the best option? Any suggestions would be great! I have never been to LA and am quite excited...just don't know where to live.

Larose, Raceland, Lockport are your best bets. They are small towns on the way down to Grand Isle, but they still have some ammenities. You're still looking at a 40mi minimum commute to Grand Isle.

You are pretty much looking at a 30-45 minute commute for either/both of you no matter where you end up. I agree the Raceland, Lockport, Mathews area would probably be best. (as far as the Grand Isle route goes) Are you planning to rent or buy? There is definitely much more to do in Houma.(which is where I live) However, its a relatively short drive to Houma from the Raceland area.
