Recent college grad moving to NOLA - where to rent HELP
My daughter has taken a job as a nurse at Ochsner Medical Center and is starting in Mid June. Her budget is about $800-$900. Ideally, she would like to live in the Carrolton area but we are finding rents pretty high. Any recommendations for areas close to the hospital that are safe and in this budget range would be appreciated.

A 1br in the Carrollton area in that price range should not be a problem. Are there other requirements involved?
You could expand your search to the area I have circled. The triangle shaped area between the river, St. Charles and Audubon Park is called Black Pearl. The rents might be a little cheaper and its an even safer area.

look on craigslist and padmapper.com and keep your eyes peeled. she could even put an "apartment wanted" ad on craigslist- that's how i found my current one. feel free to post here again if you want to ask about a specific address.

We live in Riverbend really near the edge of Black Pearl. Ours is a tiny studio, but it's $475 a month (found on Craigslist). I know some of the people in our building are paying well under $900 for two bedrooms. Btw, we LOOOOVE living here!

Did you know you could set up a RSS feed for your desired search results on craigslist? After you type in your criteria (1br, carrollton, under 900) and hit enter, scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate a yellow box that says "RSS". Click it and follow the directions. This will automatically send new listing that match your criteria to your email/reader account.
Hope this tip helps to make your rental search easier.
