My family and I were going to go to New Orleans in 2 weekends for my birthday(we live in Baton Rouge). We found out that there is going to be some latin something or other there in NO. Would it still be a good idea to go? Has anyone ever been there during the festival? I just don't want to go if it is going to be crazily busy with more drunks that usual ha ha. We have a 4 year old daughter is the reason. Also, I am a bit upset when it comes to latins as I feel that most here are illegals and I am sick of them being here and getting things free etc....(I lived in south Florida and moved here partly due to increse in Latins there and crime going up). So, has anyone ever been and if so, is it fun or should we take another weekend to go there ? Thanks!

Anyway, when does this festival take place? My interest is piqued.

Default fest

I have to agree that I also would not ever attend a festival for Latins-but I admitted to being indifferent toward them in my previous post. Anyway, to you who are interested it is August 24th-26th and it is called something like Latino Festival 2007, there is a website but I can't remember the exact name of it. Hope it is fun for those who go!

I don't know what it's like since I've never been to it.

I get in the 23rd, so it's pretty cool that I'll be able to see this.

Go NOLA!

Default Latin Community

There is a growing Latin community in New Orleans. There are two Latin radio stations and Univision. There is alot of work as well.

The problem is, the work could be done by us American people, but since the pay is below what we consider nomal for us, the illegals get the jobs and this is what the whole controversy is about. Anyway, I don't think the post should have been deleted and I wish that the people heading to NO were the regular Americans! I hate the fact that they have their own radio station when there are so many French people here too! This country is really going to pot.

I still want to know how you guys know that they're illegals. They could very well be American-born, or naturalized citizens for all you know.

No need to jump to ridiculous conclusions here.
