Was your posting that followed mine supposed to be a rebuttal to what I wrote or in support of what I said? It was not clear to me.
Also, I'm wondering what criteria you have that supports your contention that "crime in the ATL & other cities is higher than in NOLA. FACT!"
If you have the facts to support your statement than please share them. I'm interested in reality whatever it may be & not merely nit-picking.
Thanks!

I think that a major part of the crime perception problem that New Orleans has is because it's murder & rape stats are really bad & those type of crimes get a lot of press & public attention, as of course robberies also do. As a matter of fact, the number of murders in New Orleans & the subsequent murder rate are both frankly off of the charts.

New Orleans = 343,000 people

Chicago = 2.8 million people

Both incidents are deplorable, however, and both cities have far too many homicides.

I totally agree. NOLA has a very high murder rate and you are right it is off the charts worse than most cities and it needs to be FIXED ASAP. But NOLA's overall crime is LOW minus the killings of course. Bottom line we got a lot of work to do and it saddens me that we only get press or so it seems when its something NEGATIVE. Believe it or not they're lots of POSITIVE things going on in New Orleans but once again the bad press gets the most pub. For example improving schools, new state of the art hospital, contrsuction all over the place etc.

Good news somehow is not newsworthy, or so it seems sadly.

40 murders in a weekend in Chicago is like 5 murders in a weekend in New Orleans. Chicago is simply a much larger city.

I don't want to bash New Orleans. It is one of the most interesting cities in America, and I definitely plan to come back many times in my lifetime. I also don't want to downplay the crime dangers, but I think most adults with any sense can avoid trouble in New Orleans if they don't do anything stupid or get too inebriated.
