I think the city plans on using parts of Charity to house city hall. There is no skyscraper being built. Not sure about Plaza Tower.

While there are no new skyscrapers it should be noted that there are tons of small-scale building renovations going on in the CBD and FQ. Mostly 2-3 stry buildings with 5-10 apartments and retail. I don't think we will see a new skyscraper untill ALL the blight is gone downtown

I've been thinking this. While I would love to gawk at a new high rise, there really is a remarkable amount of empty storefronts in the CBD.

Skyscrapers are nice and I have to admit that the skyline of New Orleans could really use some sprucing up. It it completely frozen in the 1970's/1980's.

That being said, while shiny skyscrapers look nice (particularly from a distance), I would prefer to have full (or close to it) occupancy and use of all empty storefronts and to have human level development (2-10 stories).

I'd rather fill 10 five story buildings than have one new 50 story tower go up.

Personally, I don't know if I would say New Orleans is "booming", but it is definitely growing and improving.

I'd say the Laffyette-BR-NO region is in a boom right now, especially compared to the rest of the country.

The New Orleans skyline is lacking in modern/newer buildings, especially ones that stand out. But the skyline does have a lot more height, more skyscrapers, and density compared to pretty much any city that is around New Orleans' metro population. The skyline is actually bigger than a good amount of cities that are even larger than New Orleans. I mean the city is not really that lacking in the skyline department, especially compared to similarly sized cities. Also there have been two newer skyscrapers built post Katrina with the 327 foot Harrah's and 930 Poydras which is 285 feet, they just don't stand out in the skyline.

If the state keeps moving in the right direction I have no doubt the city will gain a new skyscraper that will overtake One Shell Square.

It seems like other cities do not have the restrictions about building hi rise condos, new housing subdivision and attracting the best companies. What is NOLA bigest deterrent( crime, mentality or stuck in the past). I cannot understand why a city with great natural resources is a poor and non business type climate. The city has so much going for it. I do not understand how a city like Austin or Nashville could surpass NOLA
