Hello,
We shall be relocating to NO by Jan 2014. We are looking to house/apartmt for rent arnd NO.
So far it has been difficult to decide in which area we would like to stay. We are not big on city living but wud like easy access to the city. We prefer a quiet, safe neighborhood.
So far the major areas we have been looking into are metairie, kenner, and sidell.
Our rental range is from 800 to 1000. H has got job in chalmette, so dont want to waste a lot of time in commute.
Shall appreciate if anyone can help us in further narrowing our search.
Thanks.
Sharmine

Slidell may actually be a quicker commute depending on what time he has to be at work.

If you don't want to live in Chalmette, where the job is, Slidell would be your best bet. Especially given your price range. Slidell gives you more house for the money for sure and is very quiet/safe. Look on Craigslist for rental properties...thats gonna be your best bet unless you have someone in the area who can scout for you. A drive into the city, depending on traffic, will take between 35 minutes to 1hr+.

I hope this helps. You're going to love it here

St. Bernard parish is no more urban than Slidell and it has comparable safety. Not to mention it's cheaper and your commute will be a breeze. You're looking at 35 minutes from Slidell assuming no traffic or wrecks.
