The eco-friendly wood in rebuilt New Orleans homes is now rotting | The Verge
Brad

"Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation has built 100 energy-efficient and eco-friendly houses in New Orleans to replace homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, the organization believes that some of the wood it used is now rotting, reports The New Orleans Advocate."

A hurricane, tsunami, earthquake, tornado, fire comes along and flattens the typical flimsy stick frame house and what do they do? Instead of learning a lesson they put up the same typical flimsy stick frame house. "That's what we've always done so that's what we understand and so that's what we're gonna do again."

There are plenty of non-rotting, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, fire resistant options if only people would be willing to open their frightened little minds.

I provided tons of information. You contributed nothing except a snide attitude. Why did you bother to post this?

You come here from wherever you're from, post negative information about New Orleans homes and nothing you said is of any value to respond to, which is why no one posted here.

Let me just go to the New York forum and post about how badly their homes were rebuilt after Hurricane Sandy.

So they tried something new and it wasn't good for this application. Big deal.

Sad that the only thing you see here is a personal insult. This is applicable anywhere but a closed mind is a closed mind.

I get that you're "enlightened," but the article you posted had nothing to do with wood being an inferior product for New Orleans houses. Sorry if we don't all jump up and build domed houses.

OK, I get it you can be real pissy. It clearly demonstrates there are better materials to build with esp. in hurricane & flood zones but only to the open minded.
