Hi folks of New Orleans. I will be in New Orleans for a week long training course for work from April 13 thru to April 19th. On Saturday the 19th I wanted to do one of those Cajun swamp tours where you go out into the bayous and have a homemade lunch at a residents home in the swamp. Do they still do these? I've heard from friends here in Delaware that they do.

Can anyone recommend a good reputable one for me. I'll be going solo.

Am really looking forward to visiting this great American city.

Thanks for any replies.

I don't know about the homemade lunch but there are several swamp tours nearby:

Cajun Encounters Tours, New Orleans | Personalized Swamp Tours, New Orleans City & Cemetery Tours, Historic Plantation Tours

Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours | Louisiana Swamp Tours | Swamp Boat | Swamp Airboat Tour

I don't know what time you fly in on Sunday, but if it's in the morning you should take advantage of the French Quarter Festival. That's the last day of it. It's a "free" opportunity to sample Louisiana's best!

cajun encounters can be a toss up depending on who is your tour guide. I got a really boring one and the ride to the place is very long and boring.

Its worth it if you got a good tour guide which unfortunately you don't know until your on the bus . Its nice tho

I'll be staying at the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter.

Is it safe to walk from there to the Garden District, or should I take the streetcar on St. Charles Ave?

I want to walk around and take photos of the beautiful homes (as shown in American Horror TV show).

Would that be in the Garden District?

The walk is fine, but if you have heavy gear you might want to take the streetcar.
Haven't seen the show much, but there are great big mansions in the Garden District.
