Default Leaving Houston, Laplace or Baton Rouge

My family has a dilemma, one side wants to move to Baton Rouge because of the places and resources available, but the other half wants LaPlace because they say there are newly developed areas.

Any ideals, I'm not sure, I read LaPlace floods and I can't take that. But Baton Rouge is packed, but it has plenty access to hospitals.

People usually move to LaPlace for it's proximity to NOLA (without actually moving into NOLA). So the question might be, how close do you want to be to NOLA? If you don't care, then I would probably choose to live closer to BTR. You don't actually have to live in BTR either. Try Ascension, Livingston, or WBR.

With all due respect, LaPlace floods and is getting a Katrina migration from New Orleans like the Westbank is. So I'm not crazy about the area.

As to the "where do you want to live" part, where will you be working ?

Baton Rouge isn't "packed." You're moving from Houston and you're concerned about Baton Rouge being "packed?" Comparing the two is night-and-day... if you're looking for a smaller place, Baton Rouge would probably be perfect for you. It's not small, but it's MUCH smaller than Houston and you would feel as though it was a small town. You'd probably be very comfortable there.
