You won't really find a hotel in the quarter for that price. Most charge $10-30/day for parking and most the time it's valet parking.

Look right outside of the quarter and you will find better priced hotels.

Yeah, that's one of the busiest times down here. When I lived out of town, the cheapest times were in the summer, or between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta a few years back for the Sugar Bowl game, awesome location.. not that expensive. The staff is super friendly.. its right in the heart of the French Quarter. I need to go back, New Orleans during New Year's Eve is crazy. I need to go to a Mardi Gras someday, I heard its off the hook.

There is no other festival in this country that can compare to Mardi Gras. It's one of those bucket list things.
