Any locals recommend a place where locals and some business types hang out in the Quarter? Ok for a single lady as well as a group? Late afternoon or early evening options? Live Music not sought just a quiet place to hang out a while with a relaxed crowd. Not too crowded or loud as well would be ideal

An associate tried the Cat Music Room bar or something like that. Said it was not too bad but pretty slow in afternoon. But similar vibe place is of interest. All locals in this place.

Thanks in advance

The Cats Meow? If it's the one on Bourbon then it's a total tourist joint...

The Carousel Bar inside the Hotel Monteleone. It has tourists but is a very different atmosphere from the typical touristy bar. Check it out:

I would think anything on lower Decatur or Frenchmen st would be your best bet. Everything on Bourbon is for tourists. I have a soft spot for Lafitte' s Blacksmith shop though. It's a tourist bar, but I still think it's great. Awesome atmosphere.

Put some Al Green on the jukebox, and put your head back against the 300 year old wall, and let yourself go.

Molly's at the Market is one of my favorite local watering holes in the French Quarter. It's on 1107 Decatur near the French Market. It's patrons are largely bohemian locals with a few off duty cops mixed into the equation. When you go in you'll notice all of the law enforcement and fire department patches behind the bar. Most of those were donated by the first responders that assisted us following H.K. in 2005. It's also a quiet dive bar with cheap drinks, devoid of ornery drunken frat boys and tourists but that is why most of us go there. I've never seen a hurricane or anyting with a paper umbrella stuck in it served at Molly's.

The terms locals and business types do not belong together. Go to Tujague's. They've been serving drinks there for 160 years. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop used to be a nice place for that sort of thing, very low key, been there since the 1700's. The owner's other place nearby is Lafitte's in Exile, the oldest gay bar in the US, and a place where everyone, gay or straight, can let their hair down. If you walk just a little further to the Fauboug Marigny District (just across Esplanade) there's the Snug Harbor. Great place to hear jazz, very nice atmosphere. That's probably more what you're looking for, the Snug Harbor, but all the places I mentioned are winners in their own way.

Totally touristy because it's in a hotel, but the bar at the Ritz Carlton is beautiful, safe, elegant and very Olde Worlde.
