Hey guys,

My girlfriend and I are visiting New Orleans for the first time this New Years (we are in our 20s). We hear it gets pretty crowded on bourbon street and it's a smart idea to book a New Years party.

Does anyone have any suggestions on some bomb ass parties worth paying for and attending??

Thanks!

There is a party called "Big night out" at the Hyatt Regency. I haven't been, but the headliner band is Cowboymouth, and they are always fun. It's hard to beat Bourbon St. on any party occasion though, and there's no cover charge.

There is a ball drop in Jackson's Square. Harrah's Casino has some nice events.

Chris Owen's is a really good club, although it's located right on Bourbon Street. The time I celebrated New Year's Eve there, they had Latin music with actual partner dancing, a stage show, and wacky audience participation activities (rated PG-13). The ticket price was very reasonable, and included unlimited appetizers and 10 drink tickets. Good times! It was a few years ago, so I can't recall all the details, but I had a blast.

Oh, and don't forget: drinking on the street in New Orleans is 100% legal. There's one catch: absolutely no glass containers.

One other thing: if someone says they bet they can tell where you got dem shoes, the only correct answer is "on my feet".
