Hi, myself and 2 buddies are staying one night this coming Friday on our way to baton rouge. we need a cheap reasonable hotel 3 rooms to just arrive around 6 , shower, hot town, and sleep for a few hours.

intend using Uber (if no issues) just looking for info on safe/not safe areas

seen Chalmette, and slidell mentioned...are these cool and not too far from the FQ ?

Thanks

Not close enough to Uber it and be affordable. I have nothing against the fine people in these cities, but they offer little to nothing to the short-term tourist. If they´re all you can find, definitely do Chalmette...an Uber from there to the French Quarter might cost $20 each way if you´re lucky...Slidell is much farther and it´s doubtful that you could even get an Uber to take you to and from the city.

New Orleans hotels are expensive...

What part of Baronne? I would recommend you do a Google Earth street view of the area, just so you know what's going on. Parts of Baronne are ROUGH. I'd recommend staying as close to St. Charles as possible if you are walking, then cutting the shortest route possible to Baronne. Don't be out walking north of there either, especially at night.
