Trying to choose between Jefferson, LA, and Slidell, LA. I am looking at a property in 70121(Jefferson) and 70458 (Slidell), and I think I am leaning towards Jefferson only because it is slightly closer to TX and I have reason to visit TX once or twice a month. the Slidell property makes me feel closer to nature with the large trees. It is like living amongst nature but the urban convenience is right there. I like that and in that regard I really like the Slidell property. I only want a 3 bed, 2 bath house and I don't want anything super large because it is just me. I would like to easily get to New Orleans proper during non-rush hour times. but only twice a week. I work from home so I have no commute. Is one area more prone to flooding than the other? Seems that they are both in convenient areas not far from shopping. I am active in sports and bike ride about 4 times a week. I do drive but do not want to live in an area where I have to drive everywhere I go. I prefer to ride my Vespa and not drive a car unless it rains. I like quiet. As a single woman, I like relative safety. I love to eat but could care less about locations of bars because I don't drink and don't go to them. I like being able to walk near the water frequently. Feel free to ask questions that may help you help me. I like the feel of living around trees and nature which the Slidell property offers and I like the "right-size" of both properties. I feel like I could be happy in either one. I like what I have read about Slidell and Jefferson. I have been in New Orleans multiple times for lengthy visits for a number of years and swore I would live there one day. Only because of crime and property costs I feel like I can get more for my money in the suburbs. I have looked at various crime sites, statistics, what areas were affected by Katrina and how bad, etc. I am overly analytical. None of that information is as good as feet on the ground who know these areas. What say you? Any helpful thoughts?

Are you working from home or do you have a commute? If so where are you commuting. Personally I live in 70121, about 6 blocks from the river and given the bike trail on the levee I can ride to Audubon from my house in about 15-20 minutes on my bike and a bit more on my skateboard (Its about 5 miles). Commuting in on a Vespa would not be a big issue, however I would definitely use River Road as opposed to Jefferson or Airline Highways.

. Nice to know that it takes you 15-20 minutes, that's cool, thanks.
