Default Help! Need info about Laplace, Kenner

Hi!

My husband and I moved to Tyler TX after Katrina. We would like to move back home. We used to live in Metairie but it has gotten so expensive I don't think we can afford to live there anymore.

Can anybody tell me about Kenner and Laplace? They seem less expensive but still nice and within reasonable commuting range (I would be working at Ochsner). I would have happily lived in either place before Katrina, but I don't know what they are like now. Are they safe? How is the traffic? How are the schools and daycare facilities? Can anybody suggest good neighborhoods to look at, or bad ones to stay away from?

FYI we are in our 40s and both work full-time. We have a 2-year-old daughter, so childcare availability and halfway decent schools are an issue.

Thanks!
