Smile Moving To Lousiana (Luling vs New Orleans)

My housband and I are moving from South America to USA. He`ll be working in the Luling area and we are trying to decide wich area is the best for us.
We have a 2 year old and a newborn baby girl.
We would appreciate any advice anyone can give us about neighbourhoods, home rental, etc.

Comments that I received about Luling:
Quote:
There are a lot of nice neighborhoods in Luling in a variety of price ranges. Anywhere from the $150s to the $400s. Crime is less than NOLA and comparable to Metairie. Home prices are substantially lower than Jefferson Parish and you get a lot for your dollar. Good shopping nearby and a lot of churches in the area. Good schools for when the time comes. Now if he wants to rent, rental property is scarce. There are a few good places but they go fast when they become available.
Comment I received concerning the MIMOSA area of Luling:
Quote:
It is so nice, quiet, family oriented. They have parks around, and seems like a very safe neighborhood. The houses selling in that area are very reasonable
