If Donald Trump was as smart as everyone portrayed him to be, he would capitalize on the pent-up demand for low and middle-income homes in New Orleans. He would understand that he could make a more predictable profit off rebuilding the old neighborhoods of the City with small, modest homes that would be at least somewhat affordable to the people who lived in them before. He would look at Canal Street and see the underutilized upper floors of the buildings and invest his money to turn them into thousands of units. These projects aren't materializing because New Orleans has completely different needs from any other city in America, yet he (and others) think they can build huge condo towers like it was Miami or Las Vegas.
