Hey ya'll I just moved to Metairie from Montana and I'm trying to get an idea how much water costs down here. Three of us live in a three bedroom house in old Metairie. Anyone have a rough estimate of how much our water bill will run? I'd be interested to hear what our electricity bill is going to cost as well.

Not back in my house yet, but before the storm our water bill averaged between $25-$35and the electric bill in the summer could go anywhere from $200-$300, (with teenage son). Utilities in the winter were under $125 all together.

Rburnett, I'm not sure if you're talking about water or electric, but that's ridiculously cheap either way. Do you have solar panels? Or is your water bill separate from your trash bill? I pay over $100 every month for each one. What's your secret? Or is it just because you're in Jefferson parish?

It's almost impossible to tell you what YOUR water and electricity bills are going to be . Too many variables . I know you are looking for a rough estimate but it can still vary a lot .

For our double in Mid-City, we averaged $123 and 7300gallons/month for both units. That was the total S&WB bill.

In Jefferson Parish, our new house averages $30 and 4200gallons/month. Roughly half the cost of Orleans Parish.

Both include trash pickup.

That's crazy... I guess it doesn't really surprise me though. There are many great reasons to live in this city, but some things just make you shake your head.
