Is "We Never Close" still open in N.O. East? It was on, I think, Hwy 90 near the mall. I know the way from the place I used to work. They had the best shrimp and crabs! It was a dump, in a convenience store, but the cook was fabulous. We went there every Friday for our po'boys.

We Never Close! They used to put tons of whatever you ordered on their po-boys and Dad always wondered how they stayed in business, (the one in Chalmette). Well, they closed that one years and years ago, but there was always the one in the East. I passed by there about a month ago and noticed Capt. Sal's was open, but can't recall if We Never Close was back open.

I like Po' boys as much as the next guy but I don't like paying $10 for them when I used to be able to pay $5 and get 3 hotdogs and fries and a pop.

The lack of Mexican sucks, the pizza is a joke as well.
Wow! You'd probably be in 7th Heaven where I live. I'm in the burbs of Portland, Oregon, a town named Hillsboro. Huge Hispanic population here (total population is almost 90k). We have so many Mexican restaurants here that one day I decided to take on a project and count the number of Mex restaurants all around the town ~ NOT counting Taco Bell or Taco Time! So far I've come up with 24!!!! I've eaten at only about a third of them and some are definitely better than others. But, boy, we sure have a choice.

Big lack of Italian eateries, though.

Try a taco truck that parks on Jefferson Hwy/Claiborne. Don't know the address but if you come from new orleans towards harahan it will be on you right hand side about 6 or 7 blocks after you pass the intersection of Carrolton and Claiborne. Is up there in the parking lot of a little convenience store and laundry.

Just so you know, you thread title does not sound like N.O. People don't say ":I want Mexican", they say Mexican food, or just name a restaurant. It seems to be a northern thing, just giving the ethnicity.
