Smile Moving to New Orleans area

I am relocating from New Jersey to Louisiana in about two months. The issue is my Fiance has a job in Baton Rouge and I will be working in New Orleans. We are looking to move somewhere in the middle possibly the Laplace area. Does anyone have any suggestions to nice, safe areas in the middle of the two cities.

LaPlace would be a good compromise. It is a suburb of New Orleans and some parts of it are better than others.

I have a friend who built a house four years ago near Gonzales because he works in New Orleans and his wife worked in Baton Rouge. He has had to commute pretty far, and she doesn't, but he is happy there.

If you are into planned communities, there is one called Pelican Point near Gonzales that seems pretty nice. It is a bit overpriced by Louisiana standards (but not NJ standards, I'm sure).

Probably the best thing to do would be to check out these places and others in person, after you get here.

Destrehan is somewhat in the middle. It is also a very nice place to live check it out.

LaPlace has flooding issues. For this type of situation, where each spouse works in different cities, you may want to split the difference by looking at Sorrento, Gonzales, Pontchatoula, or Hammond.
