Default Mardi Gras is Feb. 24---Boost For New Orleans Economy

Bookings are slightly ahead of last year when 1,000,000 visitors descended upon New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Last year Mardi Gras was very early (Feb. 5) which hurts the crowds somewhat. Mardi Gras, being the equivalent of 4 Superbowls, is a huge economic boost for New Orleans that can carry businesses for months during slower times.

I'll be there! I'll take pictures if I remember to bring my camera out with me.

I was in town last weekend for the Krewe du Vieux parade in the quarter. The crowd was huge and the weather was beautiful for so early in the carnival season. Can't wait to be back for the last weekend of Mardi Gras. Just sorry I can't manage to be there for the whole season.

Me, too!

As it was a last-minute decision (booked it last night), I don't even have time for much research. I'd welcome any tips and ideas!
