Possibly Moving to New Orleans..Help!
I was just admitted to Loyola University's College of Law and I was wondering if anyone on here is familiar with apartments within walking distance of the school.
I live in Michigan and can't really go down there beforehand. I'll kind of have to just move straight down there.
I've searched all kinds of apartment websites but haven't yet found something that has all that I am lookin for. Either it's too expensive, too far away, or something else. Can anyone who knows that area really well help me out? Thanks!!

Dont look for a traditional apartment. Most are crime ridden or traditionally were.
Check neworleans.craigslist.org and look for what's renting.

You could also check with the admissions office. Most of the rentals in that area are going to be houses (or part of a house) from landlords that don’t do a lot of advertising.

Thanks for the help so far. I had my heart set on a place with a pool but I don't think I'm going to find a complex like that in the area.

You might also want to check with Tulane University residence services. The schools are near eachother and I'm sure share the same off campus housing. Just be careful where you rent, make sure it's safe.

Hi,
A significant jump in prices has occurred since hurricane Katrina- to the tune of about 70% for apartments. New Orleans has a critical housing shortage that has driven up the prices. I did a quick search on nola.com and found the going price for anything decent around Loyola U. cost about $900 for a one bedroom. I have read that upper ended rentals and real estate have not increased as much as middle and lower ended properties. Hope some of this helps. You could try my old landlord- Moderator cut: please use DM feature for specific referrals, thank you Good luck, Tim C.

Apt in New Orleans
Masse1ta,
Although apartments have gone up after Katrina, you should find one nearby around Tulane/Loyola. I would recommend for you to stay Uptown, esp. if you're single.
One thing: Really research the apartments before you rent. Moderator cut: per Terms of Service, no references to individuals - thanks

The Fern on St. Charles
Hey, I moved to NOLA three months ago and I just applied to Loyola law school. I got a place that is just five blocks from the campus and it is very cheap. Moderator cut: per Terms of Service, do not reference specific individuals - thank you The plus side is that it very cheap and this is a low crime area. It is perfect if you are on a tight budget and you want a place to yourself. Moderator cut: no advertisements in state forums
