Default King Cake
I'm looking to buy a king cake from one of three bakeries: Haydel's, Randazzo's or Frances' Bakery.

Anyone have a preference or can recommend another one that I didn't list?

I live in Illinois so the bakery would have to be able to ship.

Some may disagree, but Rouse's supermarket has excellent king cake (the cream cheese is the best). Go to www.rouses.com; they have a huge "we ship king cakes" icon on their homepage. Their prices are good, too.

i usually order Randazzo's, but Haydel's is great too.

you see this is a problem. My birthday is in a few weeks, I always get a King Cake for my b-day cake. I usually get Manny's, but should I go Haydel's or gamble on Rouse's?
