Default Moving Back! Must find job...

Hello everyone! I lived in New Orleans my whole life until Katrina - then I relocated to Florida and got married. Florida is TERRIBLE and we're moving back to NOLA in mid-June. It's about 4 months away, and I'm wondering when I should actually start applying for jobs. Also, will I even get any responses if I put my Florida address on my resume & cover letter? But then again, if I use a relative's NOLA address, I would be lying. And if I do get a response and want an interview next week, I obviously won't be available. What to do?

I will be coming in town around mid-May to look for places to live, sign up with some staffing agencies, and with any luck, do some job interviews. Does that seem like a good time frame?

I'm just wondering all of this b/c the last time I moved out of state it was not intentional and a huge mess. I want to do things the right way and I feel like there's something I should be doing NOW, but it might be too early....any advice?

How are you lying if you use a New Orleans address on your resume? You are listing your contact address, you are not saying it's your home address. Just so long as you are not expecting moving expenses, use the local address.

I would use a relative's address and explain to them when you will be available for an interview. I am going the agency route and won't bother finding a job first.

I would suggest explaining in cover letter you relocated during Katrina and want to come home. I doubt if you will find any companies holding that against you. Its better then being a desperate job seeker I would think.

Start montoring the classifieds in NOLA.com you can search by profession etc. I use this when I needed new employment, which is often in the construction industry you are always working yourself out of a job lol.
