Smile How would you rate this Mardi Gras season?

Yesterday, I called in sick and drove down to New Orleans to be apart of everything that was going on. I had a ball!! Matter of fact, I think I'm still a little intoxicated! Once again NOLA, you did not dissappoint!

I want to hear from you. How would you compare this Mardi Gras season to others? Was it the best, the worst, etc.... What did y'all do?

I did not attend due to being in California. I was 12 when Mardi Gras no longer thrilled me and I would stay home with my brother. With that said I have very nice memories of Mardi Gras past. I had an elderly aunt who lived in a small cottage in the French Quarters and all we had to do was sit on her stoop and the entertainment came to us. My Dad is also a member of Zulu so I've had the FULL Mardi Gras experience. Sadly, I was disgusted that random people, including an infant, were shot. That is not the Mardi Gras I remember. New Orleans really needs to get it together.

Interesting quote I found about the day following the shooting:

"I'm off to Afghanistan this summer. Damn, this is more dangerous than Afghanistan," Parry said.

Yeah, that was very unfortunate. I hate that a few people can do horrific things and cast a heavy shadow over everyone and everything that is good.

It's typical "nawlins", as is every day.

Man, I'm beat. I'm getting old. I had a great time riding, but we had serious costume issues and MIL fell and we had to go pick her up and were late getting out. I've gotta say the costume output in the Quarter was disappointing and darn it we didn't get on the news, but we had a great time roming the streets as Vic and Nat'ly and got lots of attention .

It was fun, but I'm glad it's over. No more planning my day around parade routes and drunken tourist . Other than that I had a great time.

I had a great time! I am glad its over. Everything has to be planned like its some big eveng and I don't think my body can handle the torture I put it through (drinking and sleep deprivation).

Over all I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 (being I was only 8 blocks from the shooting on St. Charles)

It was a very good year but not the best. Good weather, good size crowds (best since before Katrina).
