I thought the Big Easy was very humid???
Guys, forgive me if this has been asked a hundred times here because although I can sing "Mama Don't 'Low", I have never visited the Big Easy forum on CD-F before today.
Okay, so I've been exploring places too move to all over the US. Most important thing by far is the weather (right?!).
I have been looking at New Orleans weather on National and Local Weather Forecast, Hurricane, Radar and Report for the past few months.
It really seems nice, seventies and eighties with sunshine, and humidity always around 50% or 60%.
But wait a minute, that's not humid at all. Can someone explain this to me?

You have been looking during the cooler Spring months. Just keep on watching. It get hotter and much more humid, although I have to say that the worst humidity I ever felt was coming into Charlotte, NC on a hot August night. I thought I would drown by breathing in the air.
If you look at one of those sites that shows average weather for the entire year, those figures are just 30-day usual averages. The way you are doing, looking daily, will give you a more accurate picture of flucuations.

I know! It's fun too. I just bookmark the weather webpage for all the towns I'm interested in and I check 'em all daily. You really get a feel for it that way. I've been following most of the towns' weather for about 6 or 7 months now and I'm gonna continue.

Wait until late June through early September...I've seen many nights where the heat index at 1AM is 105F or even higher due to the humidity. Sauna weather...it's coming (along with sky high electric bills!! ) Gotta love life in this city.

Okay, I'll wait and see.
BTW while I'm on here. What's y'alls take on Katrina? I guess I mean in a nutshell what did it do to Nola and how are things different now?
Of course I know the basics of what happened (or I think I do). And I know there were some terrible human tragedies and dislocations of people and that people are still in trailers and some neighborhoods are still basically a disaster zone.
But in a sentence or two or three what has been going on from a local's perspective please?

I got tired of talking about Katrina a long, long time ago. It was a bad thing. What is going on? RECOVERY. The City started feeling normal to me in late 2007. That is when I stopped "living" the storm. From the looks of things another 3 or 4 years and we'll be about "recovered." We're doing well, as said, I don't really think about Katrina anymore. We've had an another hurricane since then, ya know.

Well I'm glad to hear that things are coming along. Can't wait to visit there someday and take in a whole buncha live music with a beat! (Oh and some spicy Creole cuisine too, of course!)

Typically in south Louisiana (and, I imagine, up north too) you get occasional cool fronts in April and May as final "teasers" before the summer humidity arrives and lingers for 5 months. Enjoy it while you can !
