Default Potential Job in New Orleans

As a duped non custodial parent, every penny counts. I have the chance to nearly double an ok salary that I make by living in Northern Virginia by moving to New Orleans.

I have a new family now and a few kids. I would like to work in New Orleans, but live in a suburb that is safe. Commute time is not really that big of an issue for me. I am willing to commute up to 1.5 hrs each way.

I am not a social person, and don't want to party on the weekends. Any thoughts as to where I might want to live, or even if I might want to live in the area.

Pay is paramount for me, but so is safety. Like I said, I don't want to socialize with people.

Thanks for your time.

There are a few areas you might like. We used to live in River Ridge in Jefferson Parish. It is relatively safe, nice homes and nice people. It's about 10 miles from the city. Another nice area to check out is on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The communities of St Tammany Parish are very nice. Mandeville,Covington, Madisonville, etc. Obviously, your commute time will be more from these areas, but many people make that trade off everyday.

Thanks all, but as usual this didn't come through for me. Settling up in VA now.

Thank you very much for your time. Hopefully this will help others in the future who are luckier than me.

The safest "big" city in Louisiana is easily Lafayette. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport have high levels of violent crime, but their suburbs are safe.

ILOVENO, I totally agree with that. I live in Shreveport and crime is going up sadly. But it is pretty much everywhere. From expierence, buy a house alarm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes a world of a difference.
