Do You Plan To Evacuate for Storms?
Last year during Hurricane Gustav I evacuated to Dallas, Texas. I unfortunately waited too late and left during contraflow on I-55 and it took nearly 14 hours to get there. What are your plans this year to evacuate? When do you plan to leave, where are you going? Or, are you just going to ride it out.

If I have to, I will be headed north or west. No more than 4 hours away. For Gustav I left the Thursday or Friday before and sat on the I-10 between Power and Vets for 3 hours before I got off, turned around and hit the Causeway which was practically empty.

My New Orleans relatives typically evacuate to the Baton Rouge area and all of us here in Baton Rouge scurry to make room for them. For Gustav we were actually out of power for so long that they returned the favor and told us to come back to New Orleans with them where the power had already been restored.

LOL, I'm in Da Parish; heck yeah I'm gettin' outta dodge! I'll be going to Slidell above I-12 and riding whatever out with a very stubborn parent who lives up there and says she won't evacuate ever again. I don't relish the thought of riding through a cat 5 in Northern Slidell, but at least I won't have to worry about surge, and I won't leave my Mama to ride it out alone.
I do have a neighbor who stayed for Katrina that insists on staying again. She added a second floor room because she figures if she only had 5 feet for K it couldn't get any worse. Isn't that what we used to say about Betsy? Sigh.

Hey Toups! We're doin' just fine, but impatient to get back to the 'real' city in October! Nice warm weather here..our storm season should start in a few weeks, but it's nothing compared to NOLA storms. The only 'hurricanes' we see this far south are in a tall glass.
(The northern parts of Aust are similar to your weather, so they have distinct hurricane seasons). Hope y'all are misbehaving yourselves!

HI everybody,
I ve just come here from Viet Nam for some days but I heard about the storm, I am afraid. I do not dare to travel anywhere, just stay in Harvey, if some one can give me some advice where should to visit in New Orleans. I love this city, I think when I go back my home, I will miss here. But I just go around, dont know where to go for a visit.
Hope to have some good advice from you who are living here.
Best regards to all friends here.
