Default American Can Apartments- really that bad?

There is surprisingly little written online about the American Can Apartments that is positive-- unless you count the complainers who are positive they'd never live there. Is it really that bad? The buildings seem spacious, well lit, and in reasonable proximity to CBD, Universities, etc. Granted, they are in the flood zone, but at least most of the apartments were above the water line.

So...are they really that bad, are the neighbors now so undesirable, is the management so absent and unresponsive, etc.-- that you would never consider living there? Understand that there are affordable housing units within the complex-- but even so, from all appearances, many of the apartments look attractive, esp. compared to some of the typical high-rise alternatives along St. Charles, Canal, etc.

Knowledgeable opinions welcomed.

Thanks.

I live in American Can and absolutely love it. The neighbors are friendly and the management is great. I've been here since April. Every person that has come to visit has been very complimentary of my apartment. It's a great place to live.

Thanks. Glad to hear it. It looks great, but as I said in the post, the only opinions I could find online were decidedly negative. I actually had a feeling that the other opinions were the complaints of one vocal, dissatisfied customer, esp. since no one else offered any thoughts.

Enjoy living in American Can-- I'm envious.

i have an appointment scheduled to look at the property this weekend; it all sounds wonderful on their site and then the reviews i have read are awful - Coco Pazzo is correct. it's hard to make sense of the totally disparate views, so it would be great to hear some pros and cons of living there. Considering that this is one of the more expensive communities in the New Orleans are, is it worth it?
